How therapy works
It may feel impossible now, but you can get back in the driver seat of your life. You can create the change you desire. You can learn ways to manage your stress effectively.
I will help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to anxiety comes from a place of understanding and belief, that together we can help you navigate these difficult emotions so you feel balanced and back in control of your life.
There is no easy button when it comes to learning new skills however, I will be your biggest cheerleader encouraging and supporting you along this journey. At times I may provide you with education around the mind-body connection to enhance your ability to understand yourself on a deeper level. Other times, we may practice grounding activities or breathing exercises together to be sure you have a clear grasp of what I’m teaching you.
I’m not typically someone who “assigns” homework outside of therapy but when it comes to anxiety, research continuously demonstrates that the best results come from consistency and practice. Therefore, I will encourage you to practice what you learn outside of the office but nothing that will cut into your normal routine. The idea is to cut back on stress and not add to it!
If you’re tired of feeling trapped by your emotions, paralyzed by decisions, or perhaps just overwhelmed, then it is time to take control and make yourself a priority.

Therapy for anxiety typically starts with understanding your specific symptoms and how they impact you. We explore how long you have been experiencing these symptoms and then begin to identify areas where we can get you the relief you need. We may incorporate mindfulness techniques, meditation, and breathing as a starting point. My belief is that typically anxiety didn’t just randomly start but has been hanging around for sometime. Once we can identify the deeper meaning to your anxiety we can start the deeper healing.

Some anxiety we experience is normal, for example, right before a presentation or a test. Anxiety can become problematic however, when it is taking over our life in many different areas such as with our family, work, school, and even when we are alone.
Typical symptoms of anxiety are feelings of worry, uneasiness, irritability, feeling on edge, rapid heartbeat, clammy hands, headaches, stomachaches, and trouble sleeping. If you are noticing these symptoms on an ongoing basis, it may be time to get some help.
