How therapy works

It may feel like an overwhelming task, but you can heal from your past wounds and have the relief you desire. I will help you every step of the way.

I approach trauma from a place of empathy, safety, and hope because I truly believe that your trauma doesn’t define who you are at your core. We all have wounds and each of our individual wounds has a story. It is through connection, understanding, and cohesiveness that we are able to create a new story. Your trauma is not who you are!

While trauma can be brought about by a single experience, for example a car accident, often times trauma is more complex. Trauma keeps us stuck in old patterns and behaviors with no end in sight. Trauma can be brought about by any negative life experience in which our system felt the need to protect us from danger such as a school bully, dysfunctional family, or an abusive relationship.

I have found in my work with trauma that EMDR is the most effective way to help client’s move through their trauma towards healing. EMDR for trauma can help us gain insight as to the deeper-rooted wounds so you can have awareness and heal these parts of you so you can live more in the present and be less likely to get pulled into the past.

You can heal your past and live a fulfilling life. I can help you get there.

  • EMDR stands for eye-movement-desensitization-and reprocessing. It is a type of therapy that helps to process trauma in a quicker and more effective way than traditional talk therapy.
